Description The Basset Hound possesses the ability to follow a trail over and through difficult terrain. It is a short-legged dog, heavier in bone than any other breed of dog, and while its movement is deliberate, it is in no sense clumsy. | ||
Size The height is around 14 inches. | ||
Coat The Basset Hound's coat is hard, smooth, and short, with sufficient density to be of use in all weather. The skin is loose and elastic. | ||
Color There are many standard colors including; Black & White, Black Brown & White, Black Tan & White, Black White & Brown, Black White & Tan, Brown Black & White, Lemon & White, Mahogany & White, Red & White. | ||
Temperament Basset Honnds are mild, not timid. They are very smart with a great sense of smell. | ||
Care Weight maintenance is needed as this breed can gain weight easily if overfeed. | ||
Exercise Exercise is advisable to maintain a health weight. | ||
Barking & Howling Basset Hounds have a melodious bark. | ||
Health Can be prone to bloat. | ||
